Autumn Yoga Flow

Aloha from Maui's Upcountry pumpkin patch!

I've found there's two seasons in Hawaii: Summer and Not Summer. But honoring the shift in seasons helps me feel both grounded and in the flow through life's ups and downs.

There's something so beautiful about Fall (even when we don't get the gorgeous leaves): celebrating change, harvesting and releasing, and preparing for Mother Nature's slower season.

My body feels the anticipation of the upcoming holiday season, and from an energetic and elemental perspective, Autumn feels very airy and erratic. Yoga helps me stay steady and connected, but it's more than just rolling out my mat.

Here's what I've found works for me to stay grounded:

1. Creating rituals and traditions - when we lived in Bend we would celebrate the first snowfall of the year with a special meal. Here on Maui, it's a luau around the holidays. This could be tied to your physical practice too, like lighting a favorite candle or setting a specific intention.

2. Eating with the season and location - right now that's fewer imported ingredients and less bubble water, and more locally grown, heartier meals.

3. Staying consistent with my yoga practice - you knew I'd say that, right? Even 20 minutes a few times a week makes a huge difference in my mood. It's become a non-negotiable for me and works best when I practice first thing in the morning.

If you'd like to tap into more tips and a great group discussion, there's still space in this weekend's Online Ayurveda Workshop. My favorite part of Ayurveda is the focus on how and what we eat (who doesn't love food?). Ayurveda is often referred to as yogic medicine and is called the science of life. We'll explore the elements, daily rhythms, how to eat for your personal constitution, and more!

And try this free Autumn Flow to honor the season!

Here's to a season of that fills you with joy and nourishment in all the ways you need.

Thank you for all your support!
